Reflex Amsterdam is participating in this year's edition of Unseen Amsterdam.

As in previous years, the gallery is attending this edition of Unseen Amsterdam at Westergasfabriek. This year our booth features new and unseen work by Roger Ballen, Todd Hido and Daido Moriyama.

Todd Hido is showing a new work from his series Bright Black World, a profoundly beautiful and arresting collection of images. Since his show of this body of work at the gallery last year during the fair, Hido has continued on his exploration of the northern hemisphere in the impenetrable depths of winter. The haunting and arresting beauty of Hido's photographs is a hommage to nature in its raw state and is simultaneously charged with narrative. We are also showing a previously unpublished and unseen image from his renowned series House Hunting, which was especially made available by Hido for our presentation at Unseen.

As in previous years, new polaroids by Roger Ballen, which are exclusively sold through Reflex internationally, are part of our presentation. The small works, which have become a hit amongst starting out and established collectors alike, were Ballen's first foray into the world of colour, leading to a new series of colour photographs which we are also premiering at this year's edition of Unseen. The photographs, measuring 91 x 91 cm, build on Ballen's unique "Ballenesque" world which combines photography with drawings, collages, paintings, and sculptures. 

Last but not least our booth includes work by Daido Moriyama, who was announced as the winner of the prestigious Hasselblad Award earlier this year. For the first time ever, we will be showing some of  Moriyama's recent and unseen polaroids at the fair. Shot with the polaroid camera, the instant film embodies Moriyama's snapshot aesthetic to a point and includes several of Moriyama's usual subject matters, such as city scapes and the inhabitants of Japan.
